Samsung Galaxy Nexus Review

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the most anticipated phone for Christmas and certainly looks like it will be the best as well. Many people are super excited for this phone, there is no question. Everywhere you look online people are talking about it, and for good reason. This phone rocks!

The release date is set for November for sure. I have heard rumors that it will be released on November 10.

The first thing you will notice is the size. It is a little bigger than most phones, so if you don't like a little bit bigger of a phone, you may want to stop here. The phone has an astounding 4.65 inch screen that you just glistens with its 1280 x 720 resolution. Not to mention it's surprisingly thin, I mean really thin.

If you are asking yourself,"should I get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus." I recommend that you do.

Size, Weight, and Shape

In this day and age shape does matter when it comes to smart phones. As I said before the screen is 4.65 inches so the phone is bigger, if you put it in your pocket, but it is thin so it does help out. The lightweight feel is out of the question. It isn't heavy, but it does a have a little more weight to it then a lot of the other phones out there. This is obviously due to what it has in it, holding the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Nexus in each hand, it is easy to tell that the Nexus is heavier. It is only 135g, so don't let it scare you away, the size/shape/weight do not bother me at all on this phone I could tell you that much.

It feels thinner than a lot of phones, but it truly isn't, the screen size plays tricks on you. It is actually a little thicker than the Galaxy S2, but like I said the screen size makes it seem much thinner.

The Shape is crisp and clean like you'd expect. Not the best design I have seen in a phone, but close to it. The pure thinness makes this phone look really cool, and it is easy to hold on to.

It has a mesh feel to it.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System

Ice Cream Sandwich is the new name for their 4.0 operating system. This will be the first phone to feature this new android 4.0 Operating system, which is another reason so many people want this phone.

A quick rundown:

The menu system is brand new, making things a lot easier on you. So you can create folders and do things much quicker and effectively. You can now take screenshots! The new operating system has a couple of new features that you really have to see, but it makes multitasking much easier. The new User Interface gives you a good way to see everything you have open on your phone and gives you an easy way to close it out, or open it.

Notifications have improved, meaning you can do a couple of cool new features. The Main focus would be the overhaul on the UI, which once again makes things faster and easier for you. Google basically realizes that notifications are huge and puts a lot of time and thought into it. So this means when people call you, you can set it up to T, and not have to worry about missing the call, or having the phone ring if you are busy.

Camera

This phone has a 5MP Camera, which doesn't sound great.. But what I have come to find out, never trust the numbers and always trust the performance, there are many things that have 10MP and absolutely stink. This can ring true for almost any hardware, just because it has a bigger number, doesn't mean it is better.

This will not be the best camera phone available for Christmas, but it certainly is a top contender. This phone as a whole will be better than almost every phone out there, camera included. Top 2 phone in most people's eyes. The majority of reviewers seem to give the edge to the Galaxy Nexus. Why? Because when you take a picture a lot more goes into the shot aside from megapixels. The processor alone gives you a faster snap then even the Iphone4s. I'm not camera phone expert, but to me it seems like if the quality of the phone does not match the 10MP, why say your phone can do it. Obviously it can't. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus might just be the first camera phone to show us what 5MP really looks like.

What Makes the Galaxy Nexus so Saught After

  • 1.2GHz dual core processor- The speed of this phone is faster than a lot of the tablets out on the market.

  • Blazing Fast internet Browsing Speeds- Experience the internet for the first time in it's entirety on a phone. lol, just kidding. There is no better phone out there when it comes to surfing the internet, please comment below if this statement doesn't have a lot of merit to it.

  • 135.5x67.94x8.94mm (5.33 inchesx2.67 inches) .35 inch Thickness
  • 5MP + No Shutter Lag on Camera- This helps make the picture look even better.
  • 1750mAh battery- Should last you a day, which is great for a phone like this.
  • 16/36gb internal memory- Get the 36 if you are getting this phone, unless you are sure you want the 16gb.

DRAWBACKS

Bluetooth 3.0- The Iphone4s is running Bluetooth 4.0 along with several other competitors.
